The construction of dynamically loaded metallic materials and components is usually based on the relation between the stress amplitude and the number of cycles to failure, which is displayed in S-N curve
The fatigue behavior of unnotched and notched specimens of the SAE 1045 streel in normalized condition differs significantly in terms of the nominal stress. As the notch factor increases, the nominal stress decreases considerably. This shows the influence of the notch effect on fatigue behavior.
