There are three pathways to studying at HS KL

1. Internationales Studienkolleg

Your school-leaving qualification does not entitle you to study in Germany.

In this case, you will need to prepare for university through the pre-sessional programmes at Internationales Studienkolleg and pass the Assessment Test. 

2. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme

Your school-leaving qualification does entitle you to study in Germany.

3. Exchange programme

You are visiting HS KL as part of an Erasmus or guest semester.

All the information for exchange students is provided by the International Office.

Your application for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme

The application process consists of six steps. You can find the details below.

1. Check the entry requirements

First, check whether your school or university qualification is recognised in Germany and whether you can provide evidence of the required language skills.

 

2. Prepare documents

Before you apply, you should gather all the necessary documents. 

 

3. Application via uni-assist

Applications with foreign academic qualifications must be submitted via the uni-assist platform. Your eligibility for study will be assessed there.

 

4. Approval obtained

If your application is successful, you will receive a letter of acceptance from Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences.

 

5. Enrolment

Once you have been admitted, you can accept your place on the course by enrolling on it. 

 

6. Preparing for your journey to Germany

Before you arrive, make sure you’ve arranged your visa, finances, accommodation and health insurance.

1. Entry and language requirements

First, check whether your school or university qualification is recognised in Germany and whether you can provide evidence of the required language skills.

As a rule, you are eligible to study at a university in Germany if you:

  • have obtained your university entrance qualification in an EU/EEA member state, or
  • have taken your Abitur at a German school abroad, or
  • have already studied in your home country.

2. What documents do you need?

For your application, you will usually need the following documents as digital copies:

  • School and, where applicable, university certificates
  • Certified translations of your certificates
  • Proof of your language proficiency
  • A copy of your passport
  • CV
  • Statement of purpose
  • APS certificate (for applicants from China, India and Vietnam)

4. What happens after approval?

You should:

1. Accept your offer of a place via online enrolment.

2. Pay the semester fee.

 

5. Enrolment

To enrol, submit the application for enrolment and all the necessary documents via the online portal ahead of the deadline.

6. Preparing for your journey

Before you come to Germany, you should sort out the following:

  • Visa or residence permit
  • Accommodation near the campus (Please note that HS KL has several campuses)
  • Health insurance
  • Travel arrangements
  • Proof of your financial means (blocked account)
