Relevant excerpts on the subject of entry requirements

Below we list excerpts on the subject of entry requirements from the subject examination regulations. If anything is still unclear, please contact the person in charge.

  • The prerequisite for admission to the Master's program is proof of a professionally qualifying university degree in one of the Bachelor's programs Micro- and Nanoengineering (MNE), Biomedical Micro Engineering (BME), Applied Life Sciences: Applied Bio-, Pharmaceutical- and Medical Sciences (ALS) at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences in the amount of 210 ECTS with a grade of at least 3.0 as well as the existence of the eligibility (see below).
  •  All applicants whose native language is not English require proof by means of a general language examination certificate B2 (CEFR) from a recognized language institute (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL).

Note for "internal" applicants from the above-mentioned study programs: As proof of language proficiency, applicants from "our internal" above-mentioned bachelor's degree programs can be recognized if they have already passed modules in German or English, so that sufficient language skills can be assumed. The admissions committee will decide on this. In any case, please talk to the contact person of the Master's program!
  • All applicants with foreign university entrance qualifications require proof of German language skills by means of a general language examination certificate B1 (CEFR) from a recognized language institute (e.g. telc, Goethe-Institut, TestDaF) for enrollment in the degree program; in the case of admission subject to conditions according to paragraph 3, proof of German language skills must be provided in accordance with the enrollment regulations.
  • Applications for the Master's program may also be submitted by students who have earned a professional degree in another degree program at a state or state-recognized institution of higher education with a total of 210 ECTS, which the Admissions Committee has confirmed in the aptitude test as being related in content. In this case, further conditions may be imposed to fulfill the admission requirements.
  • Applicants may also be admitted subject to conditions if they can prove that they have a professional university degree with a total of less than 210 ECTS credits but at least 180 ECTS; the other above-mentioned requirements remain unaffected. These conditions can be fulfilled, for example, by acquiring individually suitable, additional ECTS points from the range of modules offered in the Bachelor's degree programs of the participating departments at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences. Applicants who can prove less than 180 ECTS points will not be admitted to the program. The admission committee will inform the admitted students in writing about the requirements before the start of the Master's degree program; professionally justified suggestions of the admitted students can be taken into consideration. The requirements can be fulfilled before or during the course of study. All requirements must be fulfilled by the time of registration for the Master's thesis at the latest.
  • Under certain circumstances, admission to the program is also possible before completion of a professional university degree. The amount of work not yet completed in the bachelor's degree program may be up to 25 ECTS credits; the bachelor's thesis or other final thesis must also have been registered at least and thus begun. In the case of applicants who provide evidence of a professionally qualifying university degree with less than 210 ECTS in accordance with paragraph 2, only achievements amounting to a total of up to 15 ECTS for the university degree may be missing, whereby the bachelor thesis or other final study project must already have been submitted and only the result may still be outstanding.
