ITERA

Our Profile

Today, more than ever, the development of human-centered technical systems requires close interdisciplinary integration of behavioral, social, and computer sciences, as well as engineering and design approaches. Technological innovation arises not solely from technical feasibility, but from a deep understanding of human needs, capabilities, decision-making processes, and usage contexts.

The ITERA research focus therefore investigates how intelligent technologies can be developed in such a way that they are not only functionally powerful but also understandable, accepted, and usable in a responsible and sustainable manner. The focus is on the interactions between people, digital systems, and organizational and societal contexts.

For example, we investigate:

  • how people collaborate productively with AI
  • how assisted and autonomous mobility works
  • how to promote technology acceptance and design the human-technology interface to be user-friendly
  • how to digitize the healthcare system effectively and in a human-centered way

This application-oriented research is conducted in close collaboration with partners from industry, technology, and practice. This ensures high practical relevance, economic viability, and the direct transferability of research results to real-world application contexts.
