Your studies abroad worldwide

Are you drawn to the big wide world for your studies abroad?
You have the opportunity to spend one or two semesters abroad at one of our partner universities outside Europe.

It is above all the immersion in other cultures that makes such a stay abroad so interesting.

How do I proceed?

Choose a partner university cooperating with your department at which you would like to spend your studies abroad. Almost all partner universities offer courses in English.

Here you can find an overview of our partner universities

If possible, you should also choose modules that fit your studies, usually in the amount of 30 ECTS per semester.

Please note that some modules are only offered in the summer semester, others only in the winter semester.

The partnership between South-Carolina (USA) and Rhineland-Palatinate could be interesting. Students with primary residence in RLP "only" have to pay so-called in-state-fees (i.e. they pay the reduced tuition fees for studying abroad as if they were a resident of South Carolina).

Arrange a consultation appointment with the International Office as early as possible.

Please feel free to send us an email or come by during our consulting hours

We will support you in your search for a suitable partner university, explain the organisational procedures and your financial support options.

Please follow the schedule of the International Office to be nominated for a study abroad programme at one of our partner universities.
You will first need the Learning Agreement and then follow the application process of the respective host university.

Application deadlines:

  • for the following summer semester - from 1 September
  • for the following winter semester - from 1 March

Note: If there are more applications for a partner university than available places, the ECTS number achieved so far determines the order of nominations.

Take care of financing your studies abroad.

There are various funding options, which are described in our FAQ

Please note that partner universities outside Europe often charge (reduced) tuition fees.

You should have received information from your host university before your departure, which will show you the way locally.

The International Office of the University of Kaiserslautern wishes you a lot of fun and success with your studies abroad!
